What We’re Looking For

At Avocaderia, we are looking for a Kitchen Manager to supervise daily back of house restaurant operations and that will support our location inside of the Terminal Stores in Chelsea and our location inside of Time Out Market. Candidates should have at least 2-years experience in a fast-casual environment and have their NYC Food Protection License.

The Kitchen Manager’s responsibilities include supervising the food prep and cooking, maintaining a fully-stocked kitchen inventory and complying with safety and cleanliness standards. To be successful in this role, you should be able to manage our kitchen staff and guide them to deliver quality food on time.  If you enjoy eating & creating heathy dishes and you have a positive attitude you may be a good fit for our team.

Requirements

  • Proven work experience as a Kitchen Manager or Chef 

  • NYC Food Handlers License

  • Hands-on experience with planning & implementing menus and ordering ingredients

  • Knowledge of a wide range of recipes

  • Flexibility to work during evenings and weekends

  • Certification from a culinary school or degree in Restaurant Management is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Positive attitude that transmits the values of our business

  • Supervise food prep and cooking

  • Check food plating and temperature

  • Order food supplies and kitchen equipment, as needed

  • Maintaining par levels for all dry goods, paper goods and perishables

  • Train kitchen staff on prep work and food plating techniques

  • Store food products in compliance with safety practices (e.g. in refrigerators)

  • Maintain sanitation and safety standards in the kitchen area

  • Manage kitchen team and coordinate food orders

  • Supervising food prep and cooking

  • Checking food, plating and temperatures

  • Cleans equipment after preparation and serving, maintaining high standards of cleanliness

  • Keeps walk-in refrigerators and dry storage area clean and neat

  • Operates and maintains machines equipment as instructed

  • Assists in production planning, record keeping and reporting as required

  • Assists in the ordering, receiving and packaging as required

  • Maintains a good working relationship with coworkers, guests and managers

  • Performs job safely while maintaining a clean, safe work environment

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

  • Familiarity with kitchen sanitation and safety regulations

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Conflict management abilities

  • Ability to manage a team in a fast-paced work environment
